I build software people talk to.

You

One answers the phone, one takes dictation, and one is a game built around an AI companion.

Three lines

Line 1

Talkstead

Answers the phone for home-services businesses: real calls, picked up by an AI receptionist.

For home-services businessesOwner app for iPhone

Talkstead answers the phone for home-services businesses. It's an AI voice receptionist that picks up real calls, and the business owner keeps up with them in the iPhone app, with Android on the way.

I build it at my company, Stead Labs.

It started as a passion project. I'm genuinely into this problem: a small business loses a job every time a call goes unanswered, and I wanted to build the fix myself.

YouWhat's Utter?

Line 2

Utter

You talk, it writes.

In TestFlightFree

I built Utter, a free iPhone dictation app: you talk the way you talk, ums, restarts and "Thursday, no actually Friday" included, and it writes the clean sentence you meant, then types it into any app through its own keyboard. It runs on your own Groq API key, so there's no subscription and no Utter account.

It's for iPhone users who would rather talk than type and don't mind pasting in a free Groq API key once. It's in TestFlight now.

A toy: nothing is recorded or sent
Hold the microphone and talk (or just hold it).

Line 3

Pocket Homie

A game built around an AI companion character.

In TestFlight

I built Pocket Homie, an iPhone game where you call Marty, an animated AI buddy who lives in a little 3D room, and just talk to him by voice or by typing. He remembers what you told him last time, he's always in the middle of something when you drop by, and helping him through his latest situation leaves a souvenir on his shelf.

It's for adults who want a funny friend to hang out and talk with. It's in TestFlight now.

YouHow do I reach you?

Hi, I'm Alex. I studied computer science at UCF, then spent time as the only AI engineer on a small U.S. Space Force team, building retrieval systems used across the branch. Talkstead began as a passion project, and I haven't stopped caring about it since.

These days most of my time goes into Talkstead, at my company Stead Labs. For one client, 200+ live calls were handled, 40+ jobs were booked automatically, and $60K+ in revenue followed. I also run Digix Solutions, a separate company with its own clients.

I care about software that works in the real world, not just in a demo: the call that gets answered, the job that gets booked.

Off the clock

  • Voice and speechHow people actually talk, not how software expects them to.
  • GamesWorlds and characters that feel alive.
  • Small toolsTiny apps that do one thing well.

Your turn.

Missed calls, voice tech, a project you want built, or just hello.
